I'm only one person

There has been so much on my mind lately, I'm not sure where to start. First off, my heart is broken by the devastation in Haiti. Second, I feel like I should be doing something to help, but I'm not sure where to start. I am hesitant to give my money, because I'm not sure exactly where its going and if I give I want to know. I cant give blood, or else I would. I was thinking about sponsoring a child in Haiti. Im still researching this. There is nothing more frustrating than knowing about a need and not being able to do anything about it. My heart is in it, I just wish I had a direction.
Now, on a broader scale, I started thinking about kids who are hungry, cold or homeless. Kids who are not held, loved or kissed goodnight. Not only across the world but in the United States. Im geared towards kids because they don't get to chose what kind of situation they are brought into. In America every 1 in 4 children live in a food insecure home (http://feedingamerica.org). I know that I cant do it all, or save everyone. My family is still my priority. I feel so blessed to know that my children are provided for. I hope they have a heart for giving.
As for my job I HOPE I'm making a difference. Maybe making a difference is not knowing that you are? Im making a resolution to give. Im not sure what, maybe time, money, food, baby clothes. Something, anything. I encourage everyone to do the same. I know that I cant single handedly change the world, but if we all do a little it would be a start.
Change
What you're gonna do with the 36 cents
Sticky with coke on your floorboard
When a woman on the street is huddled in the cold
On a sidewalk bench trying to keep warm
Do you call her over, hand her the change
Ask her her story, ask her her name
Or do you tell yourself

"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Oh, the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive, don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"

What you're gonna do when you're watching TV
And an ad comes on, yeah, you know the kind
Flashing up pictures of a child in need
For a dime a day, you could save a life
Do you call the number, reach out a hand
Or do you change the channel, call it a scam
Do you tell yourself

"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Oh, the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive, don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"

The world's so big, it can break your heart
And you just want to help, not sure where to start
So you close your eyes
And send up a prayer into the dark

"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Oh, the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive, don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"

Seriously...

I know that I can be too peppy for people at times, or just plain giddy. Its part of my personality. Its not meant for everyone. I can get over myself, and put myself out there and say "hello" to a passing stranger and not think anything of it. I pass ADULTS every day who walk by and look at the ground and completely ignore my polite, "hello". These are people I know, I know their names and I can probably tell you something random about them. Who does that? Are we too adult and too cool or worried about our reputations that we can be polite back to someone. Is it too much to ask to GET OVER YOURSELF! Maybe Im putting to much into this, but my peppiness is starting to wear down. :() Im sure it'll come back don't worry!!!!! Tomorrow is a new day.
